FULL TURNOUT GEAR “IS” REQUIRED
The class must have a minimum of 12 students to a maximum of 20.
Students must be experienced firefighters that will be comfortable in taking on the role of an instructor/evaluator within their own Fire Department. The students should be confident in the subjects listed below.
If your Fire Department would like to take part please register before the deadline. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. You can also supply the name of an alternate student in the event that we do not reach a full class of 20 students. The alternates will be chosen randomly after the deadline has passed to fill the class if necessary.
Please start to review the materials that you currently have in your Fire Department based on the seven topics of “Essentials of Fire Fighting”:
• Fire Fighter Safety
• Personal Protection Equipment - Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
• Ropes and Knots
• Ground Ladders
• Ventilation
• Fire Hose, Appliances & Streams
• Water Supplies
• Fire Behaviour (Optional)
Each student will need to demonstrate his or her abilities with the above subjects as a student. You will also need to be able to present and give feedback to one of the above subjects based on a random selection, and will be given 15 minutes of presentation time. This selection will occur on Saturday, thus you are to start and be prepared for any of the above subject, other than Fire Behaviour. You do have the benefit of the lesson plans for each subject completed, as well as the checklists for the performance measurements. You, as the instructor, will be assessed on your overall presentation and delivery style.
There is a written exam based on the above subjects that you will be required to complete on Sunday afternoon. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STUDY THE SEVEN TOPICS OF “ESSENTIALS OF FIRE FIGHTING,” SINCE THIS WILL ASSIST YOU TREMENDOUSLY WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR EXAM. IF YOU DO NOT STUDY, YOU MAY FIND THE EXAM QUITE DIFFICULT. If you require a copy of the “Essentials of Fire Fighting” we suggest you register your department as soon as possible to allow for shipping an ample time to review the needed material.
The agenda for the program is as follows:
Saturday Morning
• Administration, Basic Fire Fighting Certificate Program background, exam administration, and instructional techniques.
Saturday Afternoon
• Student preparation and practice for presentations and evaluations for Sunday.
Sunday
• Presentation and evaluations. Each presentation is 15 minutes long with set-up, in addition to the time frames.
Sunday Afternoon

Please contact me to register by calling the toll-free number below as soon as possible.
