Welcome to Fire Prevention Week 2020! Stay tuned to the FNESS social media and website for daily FPW resources, contest updates, and fire safety tips!

Cooking is one of the leading causes of home fires and home fire injuries in British Columbia. This year, Fire Prevention Week™ aims to educate people about the simple but important things they can do to keep themselves and those around them safe from fire in their kitchens and homes. One of the events for FPW this year is our Fire Prevention Week Poster and Video Contest. Fire Prevention Week is a great time to discuss fire and burn prevention with your friends and family, and is an opportunity for students in British Columbia to win some fantastic prizes. This year, the contest is open from Kindergarten to Grade 12! Deadline to submit entries is October 23rd, 2020. For more information about the contest please head to the OFC website listed below. We look forward to receiving your entry!

There are plenty of resources for Fire Prevention week from the National Fire Prevention Agency (NFPA) and the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC)! Be sure to check out their websites for lesson plans, school resources, Fire Department resources, and more!
