We are thrilled to invite the public to our 39th Annual BC Indigenous Firefighter Competition, set to take place at Riverside Park in Kamloops, BC on Saturday, June 1, 2024. This highly anticipated event brings together First Nation fire departments from across the province of BC to showcase their skills and compete in a series of firefighting drills.

There will be approximately 53 dedicated firefighters competing at this event and we’re asking the community to come out and cheer them on!

For the past 40 years, FNESS has been hosting this annual event, rotating it among different communities each year following the BC Fire Expo. Each year, the winning team of the competition earns the opportunity to advance to the National Indigenous Firefighter Competition and represent their respective First Nation fire department.

Prior to the competition, FNESS and the Kamloops Fire Department will lead the teams through a comprehensive two-day training program to further enhance each firefighter’s abilities and to help them prepare for the competition. In addition to enhancing knowledge and skills, the training and competition also builds visible camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants.

We encourage everyone to come out and cheer for these brave First Nation firefighters who volunteer to selflessly serve their communities.
