Exterior Firefighter Training Program

We’re proud to announce the launch of our revised Exterior Firefighter Program, a foundational training and development initiative designed to increase safety, build local capacity, and create pathways for First Nations individuals to participate in fire services. This program is tailored to the unique needs of communities, offering culturally grounded instruction and hands-on learning to support the development of competent, confident exterior firefighters.

This is more than training it’s about empowering Nations to lead their own fire protection.

Wildland Fire Truck Deliveries

In a major milestone, FNESS Fire Services has completed the delivery of the final wildland fire trucks to partnering First Nations communities. These trucks represent more than equipment, they are a symbol of self-determination, safety, and the strengthening of local emergency response. We extend our thanks to the communities, leadership, and partners who made this delivery possible.
Fire safety starts at home.

Smoke Alarm Program

From January to March 2025, FNESS expanded its Smoke Alarm Program, delivering hundreds of smoke alarms and conducting door-to-door installations in priority communities. Our goal is simple but lifesaving: Every home has a working smoke alarm.

We’re not just distributing alarms — we’re building awareness and trust, one household at a time.

Firefighter Development Program

The Firefighter Development Program continues to be a major success, providing First Nations members with a clear and supported pathway into careers in the fire services. Whether participants aim to serve their home communities or pursue full-time roles in municipal, wildland, or structural firefighting, the program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and certification opportunities.

This program isn’t just about training firefighters — it’s about creating futures, building confidence, and investing in long-term community leadership.

With growing interest and continued success, this program is helping to shape the next generation of Indigenous fire service professionals across BC.

First Aid Program

The First Aid Program is gaining significant traction in communities across the province. Designed to be accessible and relevant, this training is helping individuals respond to emergencies, support community health, and build skills that align with broader career opportunities in emergency services.

First aid training is often the first step for those interested in health and fire service careers — and it’s a powerful tool for everyday safety.
