On May 23, 2024, Kanaka Bar Band celebrated Wildfire Community Preparedness Day.  Wildfire Preparedness Day is a national campaign that encourages communities to take action to increase wildfire resilience.

Martina Sampson, Kanaka Bar Band’s Housing, Infrastructure & Operations Officer, and Local FireSmart Representative has successfully guided another neighbourhood through the FireSmart Canada Neighbourhood Recognition Program (FCNRP) and is working hard on the FireSmart program in Kanaka Bar.

Kanaka Bar Band is doing excellent work towards becoming resilient and ensuring their community is prepared for wildfire risks. During the May 23rd event, the FNESS FireSmart Division presented to an engaged group of interested attendees. The event followed with a BBQ and door prizes.
