Free Online Emergency Management Training: Fall 2025

FNESS is pleased to announce we are offering FREE online Emergency Management and Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) training sessions every Wednesday 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm starting September 10, 2025.

At the end of the EOC Series, you will have a better understanding of emergency management and how to support a Community EOC.

This training is available to all First Nation communities.

Participants can attend any or all sessions and do not need to commit to attending all 13.

Session 1: Introduction Session

Session 2: Introduction to Emergency Management

  • Definitions, terms and the 4 Pillars of Emergency Management
  • Emergency Management Cycle
  • Response goals and emergency program

Session 3: Incident Command System (ICS) Basics

September 24 | 1pm – 3pm

  • Evolution of ICS
  • Major functions – purpose and organization
  • ICS application
  • Resource management

Session 4: EOC Director

October 1 | 1pm – 3pm

  • Communication with policy group and key stakeholders
  • Delegating – EOC Team
  • Authority and decision maker

Session 5: Liaison Officer

October 8 | 1pm – 3pm

  • Connecting with Emergency Management partners
  • Emergency Management Subject Matter Experts (SME)
  • Liaise with neighbouring jurisdictions and other levels of government

Session 6: Information Officer (Communications)

  • Updating staff and membership

Session 7: Safety Officer and Worker Care

  • Occupational health and safety regarding response staff

Session 8: EOC Operations Section
