Attendees participate in discussions focused on emergency preparedness, resilience, and community safety.
Strengthening Collaboration and Readiness
In February, FNESS participated in the Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council Emergency Preparedness Gathering, held February 18–19, 2026, on Tsleil-Waututh Nation territory.
The two-day gathering brought together representatives from multiple First Nations communities, partner organizations, and emergency management professionals. Together, participants created space for shared learning, relationship-building, and coordinated planning.
Sessions focused on strengthening emergency preparedness at the community level. Discussions explored response systems and approaches to navigating real-world emergency scenarios. In addition, participants took part in interactive and land-based learning activities that helped connect concepts with practical application.
Beyond the sessions themselves, the gathering gave communities an opportunity to exchange experiences, identify common challenges, and explore ways to support one another in strengthening local emergency response capacity.
Events like this play an important role in building stronger and more connected emergency management networks. By encouraging collaboration and bringing together diverse perspectives, these gatherings help communities become better prepared, more coordinated, and more resilient in the face of future emergencies.
