WHY THIS FUND MATTERS

In the face of worsening environmental and climate conditions FNESS continues to work in direct partnership with First Nations to increase capacity and confidence within their communities.

Wildfires, flooding, or extreme weather systems regularly apply further stress to already overburdened resources, leadership, and frontline responders. These difficulties are experienced more often, and more severely, in remote and rural communities, where access to training, staffing, and emergency support systems can be limited.

In recent years, funding from various Federal agencies has become increasingly difficult to acquire, particularly in the Emergency Management and Emergency Support Services spheres. With this financial limitation, the training and education FNESS provides is in turn becoming more difficult to provide.
